AAPITA Executive Director (Part-time)
Position Overview
The Part-Time Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive and public ambassador of the Asian American Pacific Islander Tennis Association (AAPITA). Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission to promote tennis participation, leadership, and community among Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. This role provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, partnership development, and fundraising support while working closely with a volunteer board and committees.
Status: Part-time, independent contractor (approximately 10–15 hours/week)
Reports to: Board of Directors
Compensation: $2,000 per month (1099 contractor)
Location: Remote with limited travel for key events (as needed)
Key Responsibilities
Note: Given the part-time, contractor nature of this role, responsibilities emphasize strategic leadership, coordination, and leverage of volunteers and partners rather than direct execution of all tasks.
1. Strategic Leadership & Governance
Partner with the Board to refine and execute AAPITA’s strategic plan.
Translate board priorities into actionable goals, timelines, and metrics.
Support board development, including recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of directors and committee members.
Ensure organizational compliance with nonprofit governance best practices and applicable regulations.
2. Program & Impact Management
Oversee planning, execution, and evaluation of programs, events, and initiatives (e.g., community events, pro tournament events, junior mentorship program, community outreach).
Collaborate with volunteer leaders, committees, and partners to ensure high-quality, mission-aligned programming.
Track participation, outcomes, and impact; prepare summaries for the Board and stakeholders.
3. Fundraising & Resource Development
Lead and support fundraising efforts, including individual giving, sponsorships, grants, and events.
Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, and corporate partners aligned with AAPITA’s mission.
Work with the Board to meet annual fundraising goals and diversify revenue streams.
Oversee donor stewardship and acknowledgment processes.
4. Partnerships & External Relations
Serve as a primary spokesperson and representative of AAPITA.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with tennis organizations, community groups, schools, and allied nonprofits.
Strengthen relationships with national, regional, and local tennis bodies.
Represent AAPITA at events, conferences, and community gatherings.
5. Operations & Administration
Oversee day-to-day operations, including budgeting, financial tracking, and vendor management (in coordination with the Treasurer).
Ensure effective systems for membership management, communications, and recordkeeping.
Supervise any contractors, interns, or part-time staff as applicable.
Prepare regular reports for the Board on finances, programs, and organizational health.
6. Communications & Brand Stewardship
Provide strategic oversight of organizational messaging to ensure consistency with mission and values.
Coordinate with volunteers or contractors managing website, email communications, and social media.
Support storytelling efforts that highlight member experiences, program impact, and organizational milestones.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Demonstrated leadership experience in a nonprofit, sports, community-based, or mission-driven organization.
Strong alignment with AAPITA’s mission and commitment to equity, inclusion, and community building.
Experience working with a board of directors and volunteer-led organizations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time, resource-constrained environment.
Preferred
Experience in fundraising, sponsorship development, or grant writing.
Familiarity with tennis, sports programming, or youth/adult athletics.
Experience working with or within AAPI communities.
Knowledge of nonprofit finance, compliance, and operations.

Compensation & Contract Terms
Compensation: $2,000 per month, paid as an independent contractor (1099).
Expected time commitment: approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility based on organizational needs and seasonal demands.
This role is not eligible for employee benefits.
Contractor will provide their own equipment and workspace.
Initial contract term of 12 months, with potential renewal based on performance, organizational needs, and funding availability.
